Prt. Robert Arthur Harper

Prt. Robert Arthur Harper, formerly of the Middlesex Regiment, served in No.6 Commando.

Prt. Robert Harper was reported as being Killed In Action (KIA) on 7th June 1944, aged 29 years, whilst engaged in the action of attacking a German field gun position in Breville Wood.

He was the son of William and Emma Annie Harper, of Surbiton, Surrey. His brother Frederick William Harper also fell in action.

Robert was laid to rest in Ranville War Cemetry (Calvados, France). Grave IVA.G.12.

The inscription on his headstone reads:

‘God takes our loved ones from our homes, but never from our hearts.’
